Data provided by PitchBook reveals $2.4 billion in funding was received last year from backers. $850 million has been raised thus far in 2019, suggesting this year will break all previous records.
Interestingly, while gibing digital currency a wide berth, many investors appear to be shelling out large sums of money per deal.
in 2018, a total of 117 investments were made. By comparison, this year's total is just 13.
Reuters didn't provide any details on which deals PitchBook counted in its listing, but its becoming more apparent that the capital flowing into crypto business is becoming popular.
Chepicap recently reported that ConsenSys, joe Lubin's project development studio is looking for around $200 million in funding, bbased on a $1 million valuation. The news conmes shortly after the firm was forced to lay off some staff.
