Cryptopia release new liquidation update to account holders

The firm handling now defunct New Zealand cryptocurrency exchanges liquidation proceedings has released an update for Cryptopia account holders.
Cryptopia release new liquidation update to account holders
The latest announcement from Grant Thornton states
that the company has filed a petition in the Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York in order to seek recognition of the New Zealand liquidation in the United States.
This would need to be performed in order to protect the exchange from liquidating all USA accounts on the exchange. The announcement also states that the company have applied for "urgent interim relief" in order to preserve the Cryptopia information held by an Arizona based business.
Reasoning for applying for the interim relief in an effort to preserve information states that Cryptopia would like to keep track of all user information as well as account holdings in what the announcement claims "Our objective is to protect and to preserve those holdings for the benefit of those entitled to them"
While the preservation of user information and balances seems like a positive step in the right direction for users to potentially get their funds back, the announcement also states "that the process of recovering data and determining how to make distributions to account holders will take some months at least."
The company states that updates can be found on the Grant Thornton NZ website as well as on the Cryptopia website.
Users dont appear to be accepting the update as anything more than just an update to keep users calm.
